HOCKEY (GO STARS!)
Our NSHA Stars remain undefeated with a victory at YHT this week. We are now 6-0 and looking for a clean sweep season!
BOYS BASKETBALL
Still undefeated, our 8th grade boys are now 7-0! On Monday 1/9 we played a great game against YCQ and won 65-50. High scorers were Aaron Hajibai with an incredible 21 points and Steven Levian following closely with 16. Sunday, 1/16 the team played Solomon Schechter with a final score of 67-31. Stevan Levian had 15 points, Aaron Rabinapour had 10 points. Josh Hutt and Reuben Ben Yehuda both had 8 points.
Our JV boys played against a tough HALB team last week. David Orbach led the offensive effort with 5 points. Shariel Benshar contributed defensively with 10 rebounds. Against Silverstein on 1/16 Jeremy Gorjian had 11 points, Joey Rahmani had 10 points, and Ari Tuerack had 8 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Our Varsity girls team played a close game last Monday with HANC visiting us here at Cherry Lane. Although we didn’t take home the win everybody had a great game. Maya Glasman led the scoring with 11 points. Final: HANC 17, NSHA 13. Later in the week they played a close game against YHT with a final score of 23-20 YHT. Ellie Ginsburg played a great all around game with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Our JV team also played YHT last week with a major comeback in the second half. Although the final score was 24-20 YHT, our team made a tremendous effort!
Varsity finished out their pre-break games with a win against Silverstein on Thursday 35-17. Ellie Ginsberg and Ashley Cohen had 10 points, Kayla Hutt posted 6 points and all around the entire team played well.
DEBATE
Congratulations to our debate team on a successful second season meet. The debate topic, “Should the US institute a Federal driving age requirement of 21 years old” drew compelling arguments for both sides. Our NSHA Lions took home three trophies!
