NSHAHS has a rich tradition of providing the highest quality Driver’s Education for students throughout Nassau County. Our comprehensive program trains students to become safe, confident and defensive drivers.
NSHAHS’s Department of Driver Education is an accredited division, at the high school level, of the North Shore Hebrew Academy High School. Our course in Driver Education is certified by the New York State Department of Education, and taught in accordance with the standards set by the Department of Education and the Motor Vehicle Bureau.
We are now accepting applications for our Spring 2024 semester.
We’re happy to announce that all driving and lecture classes will be held in person!
NSHAHS’s Driver Education program is offered at our high school campus 400 N Service Rd, Great Neck, NY 11020.
All instructors are trained specialists in Driver Education. Each lecture teacher is also an accredited secondary school teacher, licensed by the State of NY to teach Driver Education.
The program integrates both the theoretical and practical aspects of driving. Classes in theory are taught in conjunction with the in-car training program. All automobiles are late model dual controlled vehicles.
The Driver Education program is open to all students who will have reached their sixteenth (16) birthday and have obtained their NYS Learner’s Permit before the first class. In order to be considered for this course, each student must be given permission to enroll by a parent or legal guardian.
Senior driver’s license privileges will be granted, at age seventeen, to all students who have successfully completed this program and who have passed the Motor Vehicle Bureau road test.
Automobile insurance rates are currently 10% to 15% lower for graduates of this course.
In-person classroom with driving instruction: $700
Additionally, students are required to purchase a textbook, ($40)
