Physical Education

During high energy, exciting gym and outdoor sessions, students gain control of and confidence in their locomotor movements and increase their mind-body awareness. NSHA students grow to understand how much joy athletics can bring us – keeping us happy and healthy, making us better leaders, introducing us to new friends, and more. No matter what sport students play or new activities they try, our Physical Education classes are unfailingly positive spaces. Our teachers and coaches guide our students to focus on their personal and group achievement, physical and mental health, safety and responsibility, and happiness.

Our youngest students practice stretching, balance, and flexibility during activities like yoga, soccer, and basketball. They learn to throw and catch, improve their coordination, and gain respect for sportsmanship, fairness, and safety rules. Older students learn about the importance of fitness in a healthy lifestyle during units on cardio and heart health. They play all four major sports – basketball, baseball, football, and hockey – along with a popular unit on pickleball!

The Physical Education program at NSHA is carefully and caringly overseen by Coach Mitch Hall. Our beautifully maintained gymnasium, fields, and grounds provide ample space for indoor and outdoor athletics – and plenty of room for friendship, sportsmanship, and growth.
