The North Shore Hebrew Academy (NSHA) is a co-educational Modern Orthodox Yeshiva that inspires students to become passionate learners, critical thinkers, problem solvers and dedicated community members.

Elementary School Judaic Studies Curriculum Coordinator | Position Type: Full Time

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to join our Elementary Judaic Studies team as an Elementary Judaic Studies Coordinator. Responsibilities of the Judaic Studies Coordinator will include but may not be limited to:

  • building a curricular scope and sequence for Judaic Studies for grades 1-5
  • coaching and providing professional development to teachers
  • coordinating our Hebrew Learning Lab 
  • tracking student progress in Judaic Studies

Ideal Candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • MA degree in Jewish education

General Studies Elementary School Classroom Teacher | Position Type: Full Time

We are seeking a caring, experienced and dynamic teacher to join our Elementary General Studies team as a classroom teacher. An ideal candidate will have experience teaching reading, math, and Teachers College Writers Workshop through whole group, small group and independent instruction. Teachers are responsible for planning lessons, delivering differentiated instruction, assessing student learning, helping students to develop social and emotional competencies, communicating with parents, and collaborating with their colleagues. 

An ideal candidate will possess a love of teaching children, excitement for trying new curricula and methodologies, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • MA degree in education
  • A minimum of three years teaching as a head teacher in an elementary school

Elementary School Assistant Classroom Teacher | Position Type: Full Time

We are seeking a caring and dynamic teacher to join our Elementary General Studies team as an assistant classroom teacher. An ideal candidate will have experience working with children in a classroom setting, and assisting with small group and 1:1 instruction. Assistant teachers are responsible for delivering differentiated instruction to small groups of students, and helping students to develop social and emotional competencies, in addition to providing lunch and recess support to their colleagues. An ideal candidate will possess a love of teaching children and a belief that all children can learn.

  • We are looking for assistant teachers for our General Studies and Judaic Studies classrooms. Candidates interested in working in our Judaic Studies classrooms must be fluent in Hebrew. 

 

EdTech /STEAM/ Computer Science Elementary School Teacher | Position Type: Full Time

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic teacher to join our team as a Education Technology/STEAM/Computer Science teacher. An ideal candidate will have experience teaching educational technology curriculum to elementary school students. This teacher will teach our first through fifth grade students and is responsible for planning lessons, assessing student learning, inspiring students, communicating with parents, and collaborating with their colleagues. An ideal candidate will possess a love of teaching children, strong classroom management skills, and a passion for EdTech, and the ability to support teachers in integrating technology in instruction. 

Ideal Candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • MA degree in education
  • A minimum of three years teaching computer science/EdTech in an elementary school 
  • A teaching philosophy that focuses on growth in academic, social and emotional domains
  • A collaborative, teamwork-oriented approach

Middle School Reading Specialist | Position Type: Full Time

We are seeking a caring, experienced and dynamic teacher to join our Middle School faculty team as a reading specialist. An ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of Reading Interventions such as Fundations, Wilson, LLI, and/or PAF  and should be skilled at assessing students using the Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System.  Teachers are responsible for planning lessons, delivering differentiated instruction, assessing student learning, helping students to develop social and emotional competencies, communicating with parents, and collaborating with their colleagues. An ideal candidate will possess a love of teaching middle school aged children and a track record of helping middle school students make academic progress.

Ideal Candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • MA degree in education
  • A minimum of five years teaching, in an elementary school or middle school setting
  • Experience with Wilson, LLI and using the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System

Middle School Hebrew Language Teacher | Position Type: Full Time

We are seeking a caring, experienced and dynamic teacher to join our Middle School Judaic Studies faculty team as a Hebrew language teacher. An ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience as a head teacher teaching Hebrew language, Ivrit B’Ivrit. Our teachers are responsible for planning lessons, delivering differentiated instruction, assessing student learning, helping students to develop social and emotional competencies, communicating with parents, and collaborating with their colleagues. An ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for teaching Hebrew language and a love of teaching middle school aged children.

  • BA required, MA degree in education preferred
  • A minimum of three years teaching as a head teacher, ideally in a middle school setting

Middle School Science Teacher | Position Type: Full Time

We are seeking a caring and dynamic science teacher to join our Middle School faculty team. An ideal candidate will have experience teaching physical science, earth science and/or life science through inquiry based instruction and facilitating hands-on laboratory experiments while cultivating a love of science in their students. Our teachers are responsible for planning lessons, delivering differentiated instruction, assessing student learning, helping students to develop social and emotional competencies, communicating with parents, and collaborating with their colleagues. 

Ideal Candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • MA in education
  • A minimum of three years teaching physical science, earth science and/or life science, ideally in a middle school setting
  • A teaching philosophy that focuses on growth in academic, social and emotional domains
  • A collaborative, teamwork-oriented approach 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • We especially encourage teachers with strong extracurricular experience to apply. Experience with STEM, Robotics, Invention Convention and other extracurricular activities would be a welcome addition to our talented faculty.

 

Middle School Student Activities Coordinator | Position Type: Full or Part Time

We are seeking a Middle School Student Activities Coordinator to join our Middle School faculty team. Responsibilities of this role include coordinating grade and schoolwide programming including chesed initiatives, Shabbatons, Jewish holiday and Israel programming, and extracurricular activities. The ideal candidate will love working with middle school students, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills, creativity and a passion for planning and executing large scale events.

Ideal Candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • BA required, MA in education preferred
  • Experience working with middle school students in a camp, synagogue, youth group or middle school setting
  • A collaborative, teamwork-oriented approach 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • We especially encourage individuals with strong extracurricular experience to apply. 
  • This position can stand alone as a part time position or be paired with teaching responsibilities, for the right candidate.
