Where are you from?
I grew up in Woodmere, New York.
What did you do before coming to NSHA?
I was the Early Childhood Director at Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation. I also worked at the Board of Jewish Education. Before that, I was a classroom teacher.
What do you love most about NSHA?
I love the excitement of coming to work everyday and being able to see the children thrive and grow in such a warm environment. The NSHA community feels like a family. The children are greeted when they arrive at school, and the administrators, teachers, and security guards all look out for the students and make it easy for them to transition from toddlers to children. Because our students feel comfortable at NSHA, they are able to reach their full potential.
What’s your favorite parsha? Why?
I love the entire book of Breishit. In early childhood education, Breishit is what first enables us to explore our relationship with Hashem and discover how Hashem created the world. Later on, the children learn about our forefathers’ and foremothers’ colorful attributes and personalities. Their stories lead to great classroom discussions.
What’s your favorite lunch at NSHA?
I like the salad bar. At NSHA, our lunches are healthy and we teach students balance. While lunch is filled with yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, pasta, and salad, we also give each student a Hershey’s Kiss on Shabbat and treats on Rosh Chodesh. Students learn how to eat healthy on an everyday basis, and also how to manage sweets.
